Session Info

Each session is between 45-53 minutes, and my hours are Tuesday-Friday.
All sessions are virtual (video) using a confidential "telehealth" medium: Sessions Health

I encourage a free 15 minute introductory phone or video call for new clients to answer questions, review needs, and decide together if we would be a good team.
Therapist Style

My style is very “active” in sessions, asking questions and offering encouragement as we work to identify barriers and align with your strengths.
I am comfortable providing structure and teaching behavioral strategies for clients who enjoy this approach. Additionally, I believe in explaining the "why" behind any recommendation.
With that said, therapy is not always "problem solving oriented." It can, and should, create a space to explore thoughts and feelings without specific direction, and always without judgement.
We will decide how to approach therapy and our work together, as partners.
Framework

I am grounded in trauma-informed, feminist-relational, and systems theories, and utilize narrative, cognitive (CBT), and mindfulness interventions.

My values of compassion, respect, authenticity, transparency, and humor inform how I show up in sessions and lay the foundation for a good working relationship.

I also have a firm non-judgemental and supportive stance on feelings and decisions related to being COVID conscious
Why Therapy

Often life is not about finding answers. More often, life is about finding peace and acceptance with the stress of the unknown. It is about building hope and faith to navigate through the unknown by understanding what is meaningful and joyful to you. It is also about claiming your power, so identifying and pushing back on systems of oppression that have caused you harm is essential as well. It is completely normal to “not be okay” sometimes.
Life is challenging and we need time and space to be sad or angry or apathetic. What we need to develop in these moments is compassion for ourselves, as we are often our own worst critics. Part of building compassion for ourselves is accepting that same compassion from others. A helpful therapeutic relationship can model this and provide that support.
INSURANCE

I am in network for clients in Illinois with:
-
Blue Cross Blue Shield: PPO
-
Blue Cross Blue Shield: Blue Choice
-
United Healthcare (Optum)
If you choose to use your insurance, and therapy is a covered benefit, you may have a deductible to meet before coverage, or a copay to pay each session. Please contact your insurance company to confirm.
If you are out of network, I can provide you a monthly superbill/receipt that you can send to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Each plan treats "out of network" benefits differently, so you will need to contact them directly to confirm.
FEES

If you would like to pay out of pocket, sessions are $170 (first intake session is $190) for 53 minutes, and $160 for 45 minutes. Please contact/speak with me directly if you have questions.

Sliding scale is available, but currently all slots are filled.

There is also a late fee of $110 for each session that is cancelled or rescheduled without 24 hour notice.
